My name is Nora Vargas, I was born in Durango, Mexico but I have lived in Texas
for the past 18 years. I'm on a journey to become a software engineer and
This will be my 3rd time trying to achieve this goal of mine. Let's get started!

The first time, I took an intro to computer programming and I had a bad experience with a male teacher who wasn't a good mentor and sexist.
Every time either my female classmates or I had any questions. He would ignore us and make fun of us. I would watch his interactions with my male classmates and it was the opposite. He will do one-on-one and explain in-depth to them. I wanted to keep learning but I found out he was the head of the department and none of my other classmates said anything so I change my focus to graphic design.

The second time, I took a web design class and fell in love with creating something that will help businesses reach customers all around the world, but I couldn't fight my doubts and fears. I didn't realize it will become this in-demand career. I finished my degree and I couldn't find a job in graphic design. Companies wanted a lot of experience and I kept getting "No" after many interviews. I decided to go back to school and tried to get a degree in art then covid hit I had to leave school and now here I'm am trying to see my glass half-full.

The third time, (hope is my final) For the past 2-3 years, I have been on and off joining courses and online classes but until late January of this year, I found Leon's #100devs and it has changed my thoughts about tech, community support and the way I'm learning. I'm aware that there might be more challenges coming my way but I'm prepared to fight through and keep going.

What has been your biggest challenge as you achieve your dream career?
